People and our families always tell us: no matter what happened, no matter what situation you’re in, you have to tell the truth and live your life on the virtue of truthfulness.
I’ve been sitting with similar questions more intensely for two months now. you’re totally right to question this so deeply! I just realised that even if we could leverage virtue to motivate more people to tell the truth, the systems we inhabit still offer a greater reward for keeping silent.
Maybe the question is “what kind of system needs to exist for truth-telling to actually function as a virtue?”
That is a better question to ask. Though I wonder if the problem is more about needing truth to be a virtue, rather than considering it to be fact instead. For it to be instead about honouring and adhering to events as they are, rather than how good we are if we tell the truth.
If I plagiarise your article and publish it as my own, the fact remains that I plagiarised it. We can “he said”, “she said” it all we want but that doesn’t change the actual events that occurred in time. The fact remains, regardless of how it’s framed as a physical event that occurred in space time.
Maybe we need to teach and promote aligning as close to truth as possible. As close to fact, and or law as possible. I think it should come down to how closely aligned we are with our principles, beliefs and perceptions. Even about the things we consider virtuous, and our personal morals.
But that requires we increase our ability to inspect ourselves truthfully and cleanly. To what extent can we be honest with and about others if we cannot be honest with and about ourselves?
The extent to which we’re able to go all the way with the truth, rests on our capacity to hold it fully in our own lives.
Lots of loose ends here on my part but this really got me thinking!
Dear Brother I have a gift of God for your supreme welfare:
Do you want freedom from the pain of old age and death?
Answer By God Through Holy Geeta 7.29 (Verse 29 Chapter 7):-
Summary:
Those who seek liberation from the cycle of birth and death take refuge in the Supreme Lord through devotion. They come to understand the complete truth about the eternal soul, the Supreme Brahman, and the essence of all actions.
Explanation:
In this verse, Lord Anandmay emphasizes that sincere seekers who desire freedom from aging and death turn to Him with unwavering devotion. Such individuals are not merely curious or pleasure-seeking; they are spiritually mature and strive to understand the deeper truths of existence. By surrendering to the Divine, they gain true knowledge of the eternal self (Atman), the Supreme Reality (Brahman), and the nature of all actions (karma). This understanding leads them toward liberation (moksha), freeing them from the bondage of material existence.
How To Surrender To God: chant the God's name continuously and meditatively alongside all your righteous deeds selflessly and live a restraint life full of celibacy.
I would encourage you to chant the divine mantra of God "Om Anandmay Om Shantimay" constantly as mentioned above along with all your righteous actions from morning to bed time.
Achieve the divine in this human birth only don't miss this precious opportunity. This is the aim of human birth as defined by God.
